Danish Puff
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1⁄2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 1⁄2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 eggs
- 1⁄2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
- 1⁄2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 to 2 tablespoons milk
Cooking Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- To prepare the pastry, combine the flour, butter, and 1 tablespoon water in a bowl, cutting in with two knives to form a dough similar to a pie crust. Spread in a 13 × 9- inch baking pan.
- To prepare the filling, combine 1 cup water and the butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Remove from the heat. Add the flour. Stir until smooth. Stir in the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the almond extract.
- Pour over the crust. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes.
- To prepare the frosting, combine the confectioners’ sugar, butter, and almond extract.
- Add the milk, a little at a time, until the frosting reaches a spreading consistency. Spread over the baked puff.
