Greek Butter Cookies


Greek Butter Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup sliced brown almonds
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 pound sweet butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 ounce rose water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking Directions
  1. Soften butter at room temperature until very soft. 
  2. Beat well with an electric mixer. 
  3. Add sugar and beat until fluffy and light colored. 
  4. Add egg yolks and beat thoroughly. 
  5. Sift flour and baking powder and mix into butter mixture.
  6.  Add nuts. Sprinkle dough lightly with rose water and knead thoroughly. 
  7. Roll out dough and make into desired shape. 
  8. Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees F for about 20 minutes.
  9. After the cookies have cooled, sprinkle liberally with confectioners' sugar.
